Negative Working Capital Stocks
Companies with a current ratio below 1, meaning current liabilities exceed current assets, market cap over $300M. This is a free, ready-made stock screen on DeltaScreener that filters 5,000+ NYSE & NASDAQ stocks in real time. Stocks appear here only because they match the filters in the search query below; the screen name is a label for those criteria, not a rating of any stock. Click any company to see its full financials, or edit the filters to make the screen your own.
Negative working capital occurs when a company's short-term liabilities are larger than its short-term assets, which shows up as a current ratio below 1. For some businesses this is a strength: retailers, restaurants and subscription firms collect cash from customers before paying suppliers. For others it can signal a liquidity squeeze. This screen lists companies worth more than $300 million in that position so investors can study examples of both. Telling the two cases apart requires looking at cash flow and the business model, which the ratio alone cannot do.
